LANGUAGE OF FLOWERS by CIARRA CLAIRE

Floral filled stationery inspired by the Victorian “Language of Flowers,” or Flora Symbolica. In a world where relationships revolved around etiquette and rules, the Victorians created a coded way of communicating through flowers. This allowed people to express themselves, to fall in love and even exact revenge. This line is directly inspired by the original flower meanings found in the floral “dictionaries” of the mid 1800s.

“When year after year, frost after frost,
Find endless cycles of loss after loss.
There is a pushing, a growing, a yearning for more.
Like a glimmer of hope, from a far distant shore.
Take a lesson from sweet Columbine.
A flower whose name marks the saddest of times.
She bows her head as if she knows,
Of the shadow she casts, the shade she throws.
But year after year, frost after frost,
Through endless cycles, at unknown costs,
She is pushing, and growing, and blossoming sweetly.
To win back the world, to triumph discreetly.
The cold makes her hardy, to weather the winter,
But when spring comes, she’ll be counted a winner.
You will as well, if you don’t give up hope,
Of the joys to come and the power to cope.”
