Specimen I Poem | Language of Flowers Art Print
LANGUAGE OF FLOWERS by CIARRA CLAIRE
Floral filled stationery inspired by the Victorian “Language of Flowers,” or Flora Symbolica. In a world where relationships revolved around etiquette and rules, the Victorians created a coded way of communicating through flowers. This allowed people to express themselves, to fall in love and even exact revenge. This line is directly inspired by the original flower meanings found in the floral “dictionaries” of the mid 1800s.
SPECIMEN I
Original Poem by Ciarra Claire
“Should songs stay unsung, paint stay in tubes,
Simply because they’re not useful or new?
There is immense value in the “feeling small,”
In the beauty around us, in a sense of awe.
I think we have this need to create,
This need to explore, this need to escape.
Filling this need is what makes us whole.
It fills a space which we all hold.
We’re meant to reflect the beauty we see,
To feel it within us, and then set it free.
So don’t hold back, don’t pull a punch.
Don’t be afraid of being too much.
You would never address the sky at night
And declare that a star is shining too bright.”
